Soviet Textiles, 1920s

Often, something as simple as a textile pattern can send me on a trip, deep down the rabbit hole to post-revolution, 1920s Russia. These incredible fabric prints on cheap cotton evoke both the glorification of socialist realism and the suprematist abstractions of Tatlin & Malevich. While their ideas are outdated and their fallacies exposed by time, the textiles left behind seem strikingly modern.
